As the cooler weather moves in, I switch to richer, more matte lip formulas. These are the five shades I’ve been reaching for the most over the past month or so.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm, R109.95, is a peachy nude in a super soft, matte formula.
essence Velvet Stick Matt Lip Colour in Peony Star, R38.95. I will eventually stop going on about how much I love these Velvet Sticks, but for now, I love this blue-based nude shade, as it’s so easy to wear.
Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturising Lipstick in Raspberry, R275. This is my second tube of this shade – something of a milestone for me. The bright fuchsia hue brightens the complexion like no other.
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red, £21 (from Net-A-Porter here.) Part of the cult classic collection, this red is the most flattering in the range for my skin tone. The super-pigmented formula is long-lasting and not at all drying.
Revlon Super Lustrous Crème Lipstick in Black Cherry, R149, looks quite terrifying in the tube, but translates as a beautiful, dark burgundy on the lips – perfect for a more dramatic autumnal look.
