Essence has a new big sister. Say hello to L.O.V.
Designed to be a higher end offering to essence, L.O.V. offers great quality makeup at great prices. The range is extensive and comes is gorgeous, sleek, black packaging.
There are 22 eye products, 7 lip products, 14 complexion products (including foundations) and 8 nail products with too many colour choices to name. Sadly though, as with most European brands, the foundation offerings for darker skins are non-existent.
They kindly sent me 3 products to try, so here are my thoughts:
Perfectitude Face Contouring Palette (R247.95). I love the fact that this is a cream contouring palette – the options are few and far between in SA. The highlighter is wonderfully matte and blends easily. I’m not as in love with the strobing cream, as it’s has a bit more shimmer than I’d like, but if you like bright glow, you’ll adore it. The contour shade is a tad on the warm side, but completely workable.
The Forbidden Dramatic Volume Mascara in Extra Black (189.95). Does indeed deliver dramatic volume. The brush grabs hold of every single lash, and the formula boosts each one with wonderful volume. I find it does travel by the end of the day. I popped a coat of Clarins’ Double Fix’ Mascara Waterproof Top Coat over the top, and it stayed put. If it’s volume you want, this is the mascara you want.
Lovinity Long lasting Nail Lacquer in Scarlet Sunset (R114.95). I liked this, too. The brush is curved and makes for easy, tidy application, and you get full coverage after just one coat. I didn’t find the formula especially long wearing (4 days), but I didn’t try it with their base and top coats. I’ll try and get my hands on them and report back.
You’ll find L.O.V at selected Dis-Chem stores as well as online from Takealot.
