It’s here, the last day of my count down, and my final two products. The number two spot goes to Piz Buin In Sun Lotion SPF15, R149.95
Founded in by a Swiss chemist called Franz Greiter. His love of mountaineering was the catalyst for him wanting to create a product to protect his skin from sun. After eight years in development, he created the first sun protection product in 1946.
I love this brand because it contains a very special technology called Helioplex that enables photostable (this means that the product won’t degrade in the sun) UVA and UVB protection. Both are very dangerous for your skin. The easiest way to remember which does what is the UVA is for aging. These rays can penetrate the skin, and do some serious damage on a cellular level. Collagen and elastin can be damaged by UVA rays and this leads to premature aging. UVB cause burning, damage on the surface of the skin, which can also cause premature ageing. I’ll say it again, don’t ever get burnt! Ever.
This is my everyday sunscreen in summer. If I know I’m going to be in the sun, then I’ll switch up to the SPF30 version. The formula looks really thick, but it absorbs really well, and doesn’t leave any white sheen.
You all know how crazy I am about sun protection, so when I say this is the one to use, you know I mean it. You’ll find it at selected retailers, or you can get it here on rubybox.
