A fragrance love story

Happy Valentine’s Day my beauties! Hope you all get to spend time with the ones you love today!

Speaking of things we love, I’ve been wanting to tell you about a set of fragrances that I adore. I love the scents, and the bottles, but even more than that, I love the story behind them.

The Eau de Sisley range is a collection of 3 fragrances, each inspired by 3 different women, their moods and the different facets that we all have.

Hubert and Isabelle d’Ornano (Image: haute.decoration.over-blog.com)

The founders of Sisley, Hubert and Isabelle d’Ornano have 3 daughters themselves, so 3 is a good starting point. Inspired by summer dress and ethereal light, they have been designed to ‘evoke soft, warm, lovingly amused smiles.’ I agree with this sentiment, as I find myself carefully deciding which fragrance dress I’m going to wear each day. Although, this dress is usually the white one! (Read on to understand).

Simply named 1,2 and 3, the fragrances are so varying, they just call-out to be called something different every time they are spritzed. I’m going to give you a brief break-down of each one, but to do them justice you need to get down to your nearest Sisley counter (in Edgars) and discover the scents for yourself, and you decide what they stand for.

Eau de Sisley 1

‘Eau de Sisley 1 is floral and joyful. It is a sun kissed dress, brimming with the mystery of a summer garden.’ The top note sees the citrus tangs of green tangerine and grapefruit mixing with the warm hint of pink berries and a pinch of spice. The mid note is a cocktail of green tea, water jasmine and a touch of juniper berries. The base is described as ‘Chypre from the Hesperides, softened with musk.’ For those of you not too au fait with Greek myths, Hesperides was Hera’s garden where nymph’s frolicked and golden apples grew. Sounds like my kind of place! Patchouli has also been added for a soft floral finish.

Eau de Sisley 2

‘Eau de Sisley 2 is sparkling and transparent. It is a white-flower dress dotted with green notes.’ At the top you’ll find exotic plumes of cardamom, bergamot and basil. These give way to a delicate floral heart of cyclamen, rose, Egyptian jasmine and water lily. The finish is surprisingly masculine after the mid notes. Patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, and my beloved Vetiver merge to create a sensual end.

Eau de Sisley 3

‘Eau de Sisley 3 is surprisingly addictive. It is a seductive dress adorned with sparkling red rubies.’ 3 has the most citrusy of top notes includes lemon, grapefruit and tangerine, highlighted by a sprinkling of bergamot. This is followed by a rich heart note of Chinese Osmanthus flower and red ginger topped with a garnish of peach and apricot. At the base, patchouli, vetiver and musk are joined by Benjamin and vanilla for a subtle, yet elegant conclusion.

The gorgeous bottle was kept simple and modern to let the scents speak for themselves. The spectacular cap was designed by Bronislaw Krzysztof, a Polish sculptor, who was inspired by nature, and the nature of a woman: secret, luminous, modern and elegant.

The range is available at all Sisley counters at selected Edgars stores. The fragrances are available in 50ml EDT bottles for R776 each and 100ml EDT for R1294 each.
