Dear Eyes from Dr Hauschka

German organic skincare brand, Dr. Hauschka has just launched a limited edition make-up collection called Dear Eyes.

The collection is the brainchild of their charismatic head make-up artist, Karim Sattar. Besides being the most genuine and friendly person I have ever met in this industry, the 20 years of make-up artistry under his belt means he knows a thing or two about what women want from eye products.

The collection comprises an Eyeshadow Blending Brush and a Eye Definer Brush (which are Karim’s absolute favourite) that are made from shaved pony hair (so no creatures were harmed) and sustainable birch wood. The crowning glory of the collection is the Rose Gold Eyeshadow Trio Palette, R440 that contains three universally flattering shades of sparkling nude, rose crystal and matte chocolate. There is also the Kajal Black Eyeliner, R233 (that is so super soft, I still can’t believe it) and Volume Mascara in Black, R377 that smells like roses. Click here to find your nearest stockist.

You can watch Karim’s tutorial at the bottom of this post, but I find this is more for an expert make-up artist. I have done a muggle’s version in step-by-step form instead. My way is back-to-front, but I find this MUCH easier. See if you can follow this:

Draw a thick line with the eye pencil. It doesn’t need to be neat.
Smudge the line using the smudger at the end of the pencil.
Use the Eye Definer brush to apply a line of the Matte Chocolate over the top of the pencil along the lash line and up into the outer half of the crease. Blend this with the Blending brush.
Apply the Rose Crystal over the whole lid, right up to the crease.
Add the Sparkling Nude over the top, right up to the brow bone and blend.
Curl your lashes and apply the mascara.
See! Easy peasy.
The finished look

Now here’s the expert’s version.
