Befriend your bronzer

Bronzer is great addition to any make-up bag. No matter what skin tone you have, bronzer can make you look healthier, and give you a natural glow.

Choosing the correct shade: Firstly, please, please resist the temptation to buy too dark a shade. Never go more than 2 shades darker than your skin tone otherwise you’ll just look orange and dirty, rather than tanned. Remember that you’ll need a lighter shade for the winter months.

Fair skins should go for shades with pink or peach undertone, while darker skins can handle copper and golden shades. Everybody should avoid orange shades – ever seen an orange skin?

Correct application: Only ever apply bronzer to areas that the sun would naturally hit. So, apply to your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin for the most natural finish.

Choosing the correct formula: It stands to reason that powder formulas are best for oily skin. Apply with a big, soft bronzer/powder brush. Use light strokes, and make sure your tap the excess off first to avoid looking like a circus runaway.

Gel and cream based formulas are best for drier skins, as the moisture boost will help add to the natural finish. Apply with your fingers or a sponge.

If you feel bronzer by itself looks too harsh, apply a sweep of blush over the top.
