Clarins Opalescence collection

Clarins launches the prettiest of make-up collections – just in time for, um, winter…?

Let There Be Light

As with most other European brands, we get our ranges launched at the same time as our Northern friends. For them, this means summer, for us, it means the opposite.

This used to really annoy me, but I’ve come to realize that I really like, and sometimes even need these bright, cheerful ranges to brighten up my winter.

Lip Group

Opalescence is the latest from Clarins. My word, it’s probably the prettiest one we’ll see this year, and possibly even next! It’s described at ‘delicate and romantic make-up, bursting with freshness.’ Even through the press release has me missing the sun; I think it’ll be fun to pretend that it’s summer in winter (but only as far as make-up goes!)

There are two very exciting launches in the range, which I’ll tell you about last.

Eye Mono

The Eye Mono for the collection is called Smoky Plum, R240. Sounds dark, but it really is delicate enough to wear during the day too.

Jolie Rouge

Gloss Prodige

The lip offering consists of 3 Jolie Rouge Lipsticks, R235 each: Tropical Pink is a bright pink, Coral Tulip is a bright coral and Pink Orchid is a soft mid-tone pink; and 2 Gloss Prodige shades, R220 each: Coral Tulip is the same bright coral as the Jolie Rouge, and Crystal which is as clear as, so you can apply it over the top of your favourite Jolie Rouge shade to create a glossy finish.

Now, for the big news!

Cream Blush

First up is the Cream Blush in 4 gorgeous shades, R300 each. The cream formula turns to powder when it’s applied to your skin. The finish is second skin-like, and looks so natural even you will have a hard time knowing if it’s make-up or not. Even though it turns to powder, it’s not at all drying to the skin thanks to the melting formula that contains essential rose wax. Those of you who read my site often will know I’m mad about cream blush, and I promise you this one’s a winner!

The 4 shades means there is a shade for every skin colour: Peach, Candy, Grenadine and Rosewood.

If you just adore your blush shade, you can also apply it to your lips for a matte finish or apply the clear Crystal Gloss Prodige over the top for a glossy shine.

Instant Light

And last, but by absolutely no means least, is the Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base, R310 each – wooohoooo! There really is nothing not to love about these magical tubes. They come in 3 shades; Rose for all skin tones; Champagne for fair complexions and Peach for tanned complexions.

The joy of this product is that it can be applied alone, or mixed with your foundation; depending on the type of ‘skin day’ you’re having (i.e. good or bad). It will correct your skin tone and add a beautiful veil of light – illuminating your complexion. If you only buy one product form this collection, this needs to be it!
