Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara, R399

What they say: Lancôme reinvents its mascara and unveils a new application technique that effortlessly creates perfectly open, full and even lashes

For the 1st time in Lancôme history this patent-pending “Swan-NeckTM” wand and high-precision brush can grab lashes close to the roots to perfectly fan them out, corner to corner. Starting with the first stroke, lashes are coated from root to tip. Adapted to suit different eye shapes, this mascara creates a spectacular wide-angle fan effect.

An innovative formula enriched with Lancôme’s exclusive Native Rose-Cell ExtractTM. Captivating, eyes are simply grandiose.

What I say: Wowzers, this is one impressive mascara! It really does deliver open, full and even lashes.

The trick lies in the triangular lid of the wand. You basically apply the formula in 3 sweeps – one holding each side of the wand. This delivers an amazing wide cat eye effect. This makes for precise, quick application – no smudging or applying layer upon layer to create the desired effect. The swan neck-like wand also helps make this application method SO easy.

The formula is the best Lancôme one I’ve ever tried. I find all the others are prone to smudging by the end of the day – this is because the formulas are so nourishing, and never really ‘dry’ on the lashes. Oh, and it’s the blackest black, ever.

This one, however, sets and stays put all day (even though it’s not a waterproof formula). It removes easily with make-up remover or even wipes. It leaves the lashes feeling just as cared for as previous formulas, but with better endurance.

The pricing obviously has to be addressed here, as R400 is pretty steep for a mascara. I feel it’s worth it, especially if you have very few or short lashes, as this will make more out of what you have better than any other mascara I’ve tried.

I’m blessed in the lash department, so don’t need this mascara to create the impression of a full lash line, but I do love the ease and speed at which I can create a perfect wide-eyed look.
