January Radar
It’s a new year and a new month, which means I have a bunch of new products on my radar.
These are the products I’ll be putting through their paces this January.
- Elegant Touch Express Press On Instant Manicure in French Pink, R79.95, I don’t think I’ve ever tried the Elegant Touch Press On nails, and seeing how much I love the imPress range, I wanted to see how these compare.
- Vichy Liftactiv Advanced Double Correction Filler, R470. This dual action filler says it works on wrinkles (even vertical ones – always tricky to deal with) and on refreshing the feature and restoring radiance. (It contains retinol, so make sure you apply sunscreen everyday if you’re thinking of trying it.)
- BioNike Defence Hydra5 Radiance Illuminating Moisturising BB Cream SPF15 in Dore, R150 (exclusive to Dis-Chem). I’m keen to see how this BB Cream compares to the Garnier one. This BioNike one promises to moisturise and illuminate while protecting against environmental damage, hiding imperfections and evening out skin tone.
- Justine Tissue Oil Gold Expert Skin Repair SPF25, R420. This is no run of the mill tissue oil. Justine has added a high concentration of oil-soluble vitamin C (known to boost collagen production) as well as SPF25. As it contains the vitamin C, I want to see if it makes a difference in the appearance of my dog bite scar. I’ve been using the Palmers Scar Serum on it for 6 months now, which has made a huge difference, so time to compare the two.
- Heel Chemistry Heel Hydration Complex Cream, R225 (exclusive to Clicks). I don’t know about the rest of you, but my feet have taken a bit of a beating over the holidays. Unlike traditional foot creams, this formula simply focuses on hydrating the skin instead of removing hard, dry skin. The box says ‘ the 19.5% active hydration complex hydrates cracked skin while repairing the below-surface hydration to avoid the traditional hard skin cycle.’ And what’s more, it promises to do all this in just 14 days – I’ll keep you posted.
- Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Neck and Décolleté Firm and Repair Cream, R1045. This brand new launch from Arden has basically promised to diminish the hideous lines I’m developing on my décolleté from years of sleeping on my side. And quite frankly, I would rather try a million creams than have to train myself to sleep on my back. It just not going to happen! But with all the super-ingredients (of course including Idebenone) they’ve jammed into this little pot, I’m pretty sure I’ve got the problem nipped in the bud.
- Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Waterproof Mascara in Black, R169.95. I must be honest – I hate deviating from my Maybelline mascaras, but this one has a brush I just couldn’t ignore. I also want to see what ‘waterproof’ means to Bourjois. Their ‘waterproof’ pencil didn’t impress me much last month, so am keen to see what how mascara does. Do they mean ‘swim in the sea without budging’, or ‘you might be able to wander around a hot city for a few hours without looking like a panda’ waterproof?
