I’m having a baby!

As I sit here and type, I’m exactly 20 weeks and 3 days along with our first child.*

I’m just under a month away from my 33rd birthday, and to be honest with you, if you had asked my 16 year old self how old I thought I’d be when I had my first child, I’m probably 9 years later than I’d have said. But, you know…life and things. Also, how much does a 16 year old know about anything? Besides everything, that is.

Anyway. Here I am, half way to full term. It’s a strange feeling I can’t quite explain. I haven’t felt her move yet (it’s a girl, thankfully! My sister’s growing male brood needs a little female dilution), so don’t feel pregnant in the traditional sense, but rather seem to be suffering the symptoms of it. The lack of feeling is apparently down to my placenta being ‘in the front’. Both my gynae and lady who does the scans used this highly technical and medical term, so I guess it’s a thing…?

I was in two minds as to whether I should document this online, but after reading a few other blogs (gah! I LOATHE the term ‘mommy blogger’, so won’t be referring to myself as such) and decided that it might be useful to someone out there.

If you are newly pregnant, or thinking of falling pregnant, hear this: all anyone knows for certain about pregnancy is that every single one is different! Please don’t be scared or confused by people who are ‘trying to help’. Each one is a different journey, so try and enjoy the ride. That is if the delightful symptoms are something you can enjoy…

My aim is to share MY experiences with you, honestly and openly. If you disagree with me, that’s great – your story is different to mine, and you’re more than welcome to voice any negative opinions on your own platform.

I want this to be a happy and helpful place, rather than a depressing, scare-mongering, conspiracy theory driven saga. If you like to immerse yourself in unnecessary drama, might I suggest you become a MP, and leave the rest of us to get on with it?

That’s it for now. I’ll keep you updated with her (and my) progress as well as pop reviews and other views here, too.

Speak to you all soon!

*I don’t know if I’m having another; please just let me get through this, first
