optiphi Classic Hydration Tint SPF 20 in Light, R750

What they say: The new optiphi Hydration Tint SPF 20 offers a breathable, light to medium coverage with mattifying, skin brightening and anti-aging benefits.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid):
Addresses hyperpigmentation by reducing existing melanin in the skin, boosting an even skin tone ∙ Inhibits the synthesis of melanin in the melanocytes
∙ Promotes the synthesis of collagen
∙ Anti-oxidant activity fights free radical damage
∙ Brightening effect on the skin

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide):

∙ Escalates telomerase activity and delays cellular senescence, in turn delaying
skin aging

∙ Improves skin imperfections and blemishes

∙ Increases matrix protein synthesis and decreases stratum corneum thickness

Imperata Cylindrica and Hyaluronic Acid:

∙ Extended “won’t wash off” moisture that lasts for 24 hours

∙ Increases the skins ability to retain moisture

The unique pigments used have been treated, allowing for better adhesion and ease of even application, adapting to your individual skin tone for the perfect colour which won’t stain your clothes.

optiphi Swatches

Available in 3 shades: Light, Medium, Dark.

The broad spectrum SPF20 offers sun protection without leaving a white film, making it suitable for even the darkest skin.

What I say: This might just be the holy grail product of the summer. Honestly, what is there not to love about a product this versatile?

Firstly, it comes in an airless pump bottle, secondly it has broad spectrum SPF 20 protection, thirdly it has incredible skin care benefits, and finally it delivers decent coverage considering all the above. Can you tell I love it?

Having said that, first impressions were a bit sketchy, as the Light shade comes out looking very pink and peachy – a hue that flatters few skin tones, but the skin adaptive technology ensures that the colour is a perfect match for your skin tone, every time.

It seems to disappear into the skin, but definitely leaves a fair bit of coverage (look, I’m not talking MAC Studio Face and Body here, but enough for every day use). It absorbs without leaving any sticky residue, or any sign of the dreaded ashy shadow so common with other higher SPF tints.

I’ve been using mine for a few months now, and can definitely see a difference in my pigmentation. My skin also seems more hydrated than usual, especially for this time of the year – I’m normally plagued by dry patches during transition seasons, but haven’t had any this year.

The Hydration Tint SPF20 launches on Thursday, and will form part of the optiphi Classic range.

If the Hydration Tint SPF20 sounds right up your street, you’re in luck. I have a bottle to give away to one lucky reader (the winner will get to choose their preferred shade, of course).

Entering is a two-step process:

  1. Pop over and either like the optiphi Facebook page here, or follow them on Twitter here.
  2. Let us know in comments box below what your favourite summer pastime is.

Entries are limited to one per person and are only open to South African residents. Entries close at 17h00 on Friday 9th September.

[GIVEAWAY CLOSED] Congrats to the winner, Liezel Gouws

Liked on Facebook and following on Twitter. My favourite summer past time is: Eating ice-cream, swimming in the pool, going for walks on the beach, messy hair, tiny shorts, vests and flops. Tanned skin, watermelon, braaing with the family. Longer days, shorter nights.

My favourite summer pastime is “Swimming”. It is a good way to relax, while having a full-body workout. It is the best possible way to beat the heat. Liked and following both of Optiphi accounts. Fingers crossed.

Fabulous giveaway, have always wanted to try this fantastic brand. My favourite summer pastime has to be going to the beach with my children. I never tire of seeing their joy and excitement at even the tiniest thing, and now that they are bigger, I can enjoy watching them frolic in the waves without panicking!!

My favourite summer past time is swimming. I like to swim because of it is a low-impact activity that has many physical and mental health benefits. Swimming is not only fun, but keeps me physically fit. I love being immersed in water, swimming allows me to relax/destress, keeps me focused and motivated. I can escape reality and switch off from the rest of the world. When I go swimming, I close my eyes & enjoy the weightless freedom and liberation. Swimming is the best sport in the world—it feels just like flying. You know that blissful calm that washes over you when you hold your face under the showerhead? The same thing happens during a good swim session. When I swim I am completely alone with myself, and the flow of the world around me. My thoughts move in and out with my breath, up and down with the stretching of my limbs. I love attempting acrobatic turns, kicks, and somersaults.
