As a bright-eyed fashion intern in the early 2000s, I remember thinking La Perla was the absolute height of luxury and sophistication. I was obsessed with the delicate, intricate garments.
For more than 60 years, that Italian flair and craftsmanship has been adorning beautiful bodies all over the world. La Perla La Mia Perla is the next chapter in the brand’s story.
La Mia Perla (my pearl) is a tribute to female beauty, power and strength; all key characteristics of the brand’s heritage. Like a precious jewel plucked from the ocean, the fragrance is delicate yet powerful.
Eschewing the traditional fragrance pyramid in favour of a circular (pearl-like) composition, the scent is a cocktail of notes that smell the same all day. You can look forward to accords of mandarin, white pepper, jasmine sambac, white peony, orris, silky suede, ambrox, sandalwood and muscenone.
On me, the floral notes settle the strongest, which I love. It is quite strange to wear a scent that is unchanging – you obviously have to make sure that you love the notes and how the settle on your skin. I adore the scent and have been wearing it regularly since I got my hands on it in July.
The bottle is as special as a pearl with delicate rose gold ‘pearl’ suspended within it. An almost invisible tube reaches down into the juice to ensure the pearlescent orb is undisturbed.
La Perla La Mia Perla is filtering into stores this month, and will be available in 30ml EDP (R950), 50ml EDP (R1250) and 100ml EDP (R1650).
