Those of you who follow me on Instagram and Twitter will know that I’ve just been on a 7000km European road trip.
A trip like that needs some seriously hard-working products. Here’s a list of the products I took, and why I loved using them. (I haven’t included make-up in this post – look our for that one next week.)
Optiphi Facial Cleanser not only removes dirt and make-up, it also acts as a gentle exfoliator when left on for more two minutes thanks to the salicylic acid in the formula.
Optiphi Moisture Control Light delivers all day moisturisation without leaving my skin feeling oily or sticky.
Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF50 is my favourite broad-spectrum sun protection. It absorbs well and is designed to enhance your skin tone.
Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum nourished, repaired and protected my eyes from the bright Spanish sun. The formula can be applied all around the eye area, right up to the lash line without irritating the eyes.
Ordinary Skincare Night Cream helps to revive my tired skin after days of sightseeing, hiking or driving.
Ordinary Skincare Moisturising Balm is fast becoming my go-to product for any dry skin issues – I used it once a week as a moisturising mask and sometimes under the Night Cream when my skin felt particularly dry. It works a treat as a nourishing hand cream, too! But the best use of this genius balm, however, is on long haul flights. I applied a layer to clean skin just after take-off and then again half way through the flight. When I landed, I washed my face, and was left with soft, smooth, hydrated skin. No hint of ‘plane face’! And, very best of all is their award-winning sample packs. They reseal, and pose no worries at security 🙂
Blistex Lip Medex goes with my everywhere anyway, so there’s no reason why I wouldn’t take it on holiday with me.
Kiehl’s Crème de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter is another product I use everyday at home, and as Kiehl’s are so generous with their samples, I always have a few bottles with me when I travel.
Piz Buin Wet Skin Transparent Sun Spray SPF30 and Allergy Spray SPF50 were the two of my vast Piz collection that I decided to take with me. The Wet Skin Spray is a must for water babies, as it can be applied directly to wet skin. The allergy formulas is brilliant for reactive skins like mine. I’m prone to heat rash, and this cream helps to reduce it.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. I don’t think I need to explain my love for this product again. I used it on insect bites in Aigues-Mortes and Sintra, on dry cuticles in Remis and to repair dry heels in Barcelona.
Philip Kingsley Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner are designed for wavy hair, and works well on my hair. It leaves my hair soft and smooth, regardless of what water I have to wash my hair in. (London’s water always leaves my hair dry and crispy if I don’t use the correct products). The packaging is also great for travelling, as I’ve yet to have a bottle leak on me.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is the treatment I use whenever my hair needs a boost, and I always travel with it as it provides UV protection and helps prolong colour.
Hask Argan Oil was a very happy find in Primark. I have never had any luck travelling with my beloved Moroccanoil – either with my bottles or theirs. So I normally buy a substitute when I land. I found this little vial in Primark in Hammersmith for just £2.50, and it turned out to be the perfect amount for a month-long trip! It wasn’t as good as Moroccanoil, but it wasn’t bad at all! I was extra delighted to discover that Clicks have launched the brand into their stores! I’m keen to try the shampoos, conditioners and masks too!
