Filler Renew is L’Oreal’s anti-aging, collagen boosting range that they’ve introduced two new products into.
The idea behind the range is that by pumping the skin with hyaluronic acid, you boost collagen production, which, in turn, boosts fullness and luminosity.
If you think of your skin as a mesh that is made up of collagen and other proteins, held together with a gel-like substance, hyaluronic acid. The problem with aging is that we lose about 1% of our skin’s collagen every year after the age of 25.
Hyaluronic acid is an incredible molecule that is capable of holding up to 1000 times its weight in water. By putting it back into the skin, it attracts moisture, and swells, which plumps and firms the skin. This action also causes ‘damage’ to the surrounding mesh, which activates fibroblast activity (think of this as the actual mesh material), which in turn, sends out messages to produce more collagen.
To further this fibroblast activity, they’ve also added an extract called Fibroxyl, which enhances fibroblast activity.
The two new products are the Revitalift Filler Renew Replumping Eye Cream, R284.95, which comes with a very futuristic-looking metal tipped applicator; and the Revitalift Filer Renew Replumping Night Cream, R284.95. These join the existing two products in the range: Revitalift Filler Renew Replumping Day Cream and Serum (also R284.95 each).
