The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Essence-Lotion, R170

What they say: A unique gel-to-water liquid care, the essential first step after cleansing to prepare skin for the next steps of the routine. Skin feels instantly smoother and replenished with moisture. Infused with a potent blend of 3 plant stem cells.

Drops of Youth Gel Essence

What I say: When I first saw this, I didn’t think too much of it. I like simple and quick skincare routines, so this seemed like an unnecessary extra step. But after reading so many posts on the number of steps Korean girls put into their skincare, I thought I’d give this essence trend a try.

You apply it to the skin after cleansing, before any serums, oils or creams, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the results. It’s kind of like a toner, but with a purpose. (I’ve always found toners a total waste of time, as they only seem to dry out my skin). This, however, leaves the skin soft and hydrated – so the skin still feels clean, but with a boost of hydration. I think it helps my other products work better, too.

The only thing I don’t like is that it takes a while to completely sink in (3-5 minutes), which, if you’re in a rush is ridiculously long. But as it’s an additional step, it doesn’t really matter if you miss an application.

It’s a great product for this time of year. In between seasons always leave complexions looking dull, lack-lustre and sallow, and this acts as a little energy shot before you apply your regular products.

I wanna ask about the Drops of Youth Essence- Lotion whether the people with any age can apply the product. Or is there a age limit?

    Thanks!

    Hi Rinzin

No, it’s great for everyone from 20 – 80. It is only for drier skin, as it is quite moisturising.

    Hope this helps?

Hi. I have drops of youth essence lotion body shop and aqua boost essence. How do i use these two. Which first or should I skip one? I also use a serum . Confused on what to use first then after. Help. Thanks

    Hi Alexy

Essences are thinner in consistency than serums, so they go on straight after cleaning, before serums or creams.

Both of the ones you have do similar things – the Aqua Boost is for sensitive, dehydrated skin and the Drops of Youth one is for dehydrated skin with an anti-aging, brighting focus.

You don’t need to use both, so choose which your skin needs each time you cleanse.
If it’s feeling dry and a bit irritated, use the Aqua Boost, and if it feels a bit dull, then go for Drops Of Youth.

    Hope that makes sense?
