Davines Your Hair Assistant Blowdry Primer, R410

What they say: A bodifying tonic with an anti-humidity effect for all hair types. The formula provides texture and protection against heat and humidity, enhancing the natural shine of the hair and reducing the blow-drying time. It is an essential support for creating the state-of-the-art blow-dry and it can be used with all hot tools. The formula is free of parabens.

What I say: Ok, so if you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you’ll know I’m TERRIBLE at doing my own hair (except plaiting, which, thanks to years of Pony Club, I’m pretty good at). My mum is the queen of the perfect blow dry, and can create the most amazing styles with her hair. My sister and I, however didn’t inherit this gene, and instead have perfected the messy bun.

But recently, due to a hair disaster I still don’t have the strength to talk about, I had to chop half my hair off, and am now sporting a lob – which doesn’t agree with my preferred messy bun look. This has meant I’ve had to actually make more of an effort with my hair than just running a pump of Moroccanoil through the ends, or spritzing it with Davines’ Sea Salt Spray.

While I guess I could get better at blow drying with practice, the thing is, I just don’t see the point. Just like I know I’m never going to be a prima ballerina (despite my girlhood dreams), I know I’m never going to be great at blow drying my hair. And, I’m ok with that. This however doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t like to be able to achieve something that doesn’t look like my dog did it.

My results have improved since the Veaudry myEasyComb came into my life (full review of which here). This has eliminated the brush bundles I used to create (don’t play dumb – I know you’ve all got your hair caught in a knot trying to do the fancy rolly up and down thing your hairdresser does).

But despite this, I still find blow drying, well, an utter faff. It takes ages and I lose interest a third of the way through, and end up with half my head looking decent acceptable, and the other half fluffy and skew.

But I think last week I found a product that even I can work with. Davines have just launches a new range called Your Hair Assistant, which has been specially developed to help mere mortals like us create salon-worthy blowdrys. Oh how I love clever creators!

The product that caught my eye the most is the Blowdry Primer. It promises to reduce drying time and frizz and increase body and shine. Them’s big words…

Well, I’m happy to report that it does deliver all those things. I found my hair dried much faster than usual, which in itself would be reason enough for me to love it. The mid-lengths and ends were noticeably less frizz and far shinier than usual, too. But, best of all was the inexplicable volume I acquired. Opposed to the usual limp, lanky locks I’m left with, I was actually asked by a friend if I’d been for a blow dry!

Now that’s a result in my books, and will be reaching for this every time I blow dry my hair from now on. Which, who knows, might be a little more often now…

My hair assistant low dry primer is my favorite hair product by far. The first time I tried to use it myself the result was horrible, i applied it at my wet hair and my hair just got sticky and hard so i had to wash it again. Next time I dried my hair, applied the product and did my waves with a beach waver as usual and the result was just AWESOME. I LOVE IT. My waves remains for 3 days and even 4, only with this product. It is worth every penny it costs!
