Aveeno is here

American body care brand, Aveeno has finally hit our shores.

It’s oat-based formulas care and nourish the skin, with little chance of allergic reaction. Oats have been used for centuries for their skin soothing properties, which is why they were chosen for the brand’s gentle, Triple Oat Formula approach to body care.

The name, Aveeno, comes from the Latin name for oats, Avena Sativa. The plant contains various essential nutrients, as well as incredible emollient properties, making it perfect for treating very dry and atopic skin. The brand is proud of its 70 year heritage, and is so popular in the States that a bottle of the Daily Moisturising Lotion is sold every 14 seconds! We are getting 4 ranges:

Dermexa range for extra dry, irritated skin and targets 5 signs of very dry skin. There are two products in this range: Dermexa Emollient Body Wash (R169.95) and Dermexa Emollient Cream (R169.95).

The Daily Moisturising range is for dry skin, and has been designed for daily use. There are two products in this range, too: Daily Moisturising Body Yoghurt Lotion (R79.95), which I have used many times before (from the UK), and absolutely adore; and the Daily Moisturising Body Lotion (R79.95).

The Skin Relief range has just one product; the Skin Relief Nourishing Lotion with Shea Butter (R94.95) is indicated for irritated skin. It provides immediate relief for dry, sensitive and irritable skin and is clinically proven to soothe skin from day 1 and provide 24hr moisturisation.

And finally, there is a baby range with 3 products: Baby Daily Care Hair and Body Wash (R79.95), Baby Daily Care Moisturising Lotion (R69.95) and Baby Daily Care Barrier Cream (R114.95). The formulas in these products have been tested by paediatricians and designed to care for the delicate skin of babies.

I haven’t had time to test any of them properly yet (except the Body Yoghurt, which is exceptional), but thought I’d just let you know what is available in case you want to give them a try. You’ll find the range at Clicks stores now, and in Dis-Chem in the next few months. I’m busy testing them at the moment, so will have full reviews up soon.
