Happy birthday, Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners

I get to work with a lot of brands, and I’m lucky enough to have met some incredible people and form wonderful friendships as a result.

The beauty industry isn’t all rainbows and sunshine (there are some brands that I will never work with because they treat people like dirt on their shoes), but for the most part, the industry is way nicer than you’d imagine.

But there are just some brands that snuggle their way into my heart; not only because of their product offering, but who they are as people and (most importantly for me) how they treat others. Crabtree & Evelyn is one of those; even when I was an intern I was treated the same as editors, which means a LOT to a youngster starting out.

This year they are celebrating the coming of age of one of their iconic ranges with the addition of two products. Happy birthday, Gardeners!

Until now, the range has been solely focused on hand treatment and repair, but the two new products are aimed at body care.

The 3 pillar ingredients of the range are sage, rosemary and thyme, all chose for their medicinal properties and soothing scents. Originally developed specifically for people who spend lots of time digging, planting and pruning, the range has reached cult status with everyone (green fingered and not at all).

The new Gardeners Body Wash (R450) is gentle and nourishing and packed full of moisturising ingredients to soothe the skin. Follow this with the new Gardeners Body Lotion (R500) that is enriched with even more hydrating ingredients like Meadowfoam seed and grapeseed oils and avo and shea butters. It sounds extraordinarily rich, and it is, but absorbs quickly to leave the skin soft and supple.

If you want to discover the entire Gardeners range, I’ve added all the info below, but before you go, here are my two favourites:

Gardeners Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy (R350) is my second favourite Crabtree & Evelyn product after La Source Anti-Ageing Hand Therapy (see the trend?) It’s super nourishing and hydrating, and absorbs quickly without leaving oily residue.

Gardeners Nail & Cuticle Therapy (R250) is basically a mini manicure in a tube. It hides snaggle cuticles and less than groomed nails in an instant.

There are stores in Gauteng and Durban, but sadly there aren’t stand-alone stores in Cape Town anymore, but the brand is available from their online store, as well as at selected Dischem stores (click here to find your nearest stockist) and Takealot online.
