A few empties you should know about

In my line of work, it’s somewhat of a miracle to actually use up every single drop of a product. There is always something else to test before I get to end of a product. So when I actually have empties, you can be assured that I absolutely loved whatever was inside.

Some of these are old favourites that I’ve used for years, and others are recent discoveries that I’ll definitely be repurchasing.

Aveeno Vanilla and Oat Daily Moisturising Body Yoghurt (R80) is pretty much always in my bathroom all year round. It’s just my favourite daily body moisturiser. Yes, there are times when I need something richer, but this is the one I use 90% of the time.

A new discovery is the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Defining Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Seriously Black (R290). I hardly ever used to wear liquid eyeliner (who has the time of patience for that?), but this completely changed my mind. I love the long, sharp nib that is soft enough that it doesn’t hurt your eyes, but firm enough to create a super tidy line. Every. Single. Time. If you’re in the market for a felt tip liner, don’t bother with anything else.

Another product that changed my mind about a particular routine is Skinny Tan Mousse (R400). I still don’t love self-tanning, but I like it a great deal better now thanks to this brand. Finally there is a range that does what it says on the box and delivers a beautiful, natural tan without a streak, hint of orange or burnt toast smell in sight.

If you want to start incorporating Vitamin C into your skincare routine, I suggest you start with Environ C-Boost (R375). It’s the best formula in its price range and won’t irritate your skin. I’ve used it for years and recommend it to everyone.

Similarly, if you are looking for an affordable yet effective hydrating serum, you simply can’t go wrong with the Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster (R343). It absorbs quickly and I’ve never had an issue with it pilling under other serum and creams or makeup.

I would be lying if I told you how many bottles of the Bioderma Hydrabio H2O Moisturising Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution (R325 for 500ml) I’ve gone through. It’s definitely more than 20, and that number is just going to grow. This, along with its sister, Sensibio H2O, is the best makeup remover I’ve ever used. If you’ve never tried them, I highly recommend you do.
