Review | Theravine Skincare

Another day, another skincare review. I was so behind on my skincare reviews, but I got through so much during lockdown, I’ve pretty much caught up. Next up is this set from Theravine.

The brand sent this to me a while ago, and because it was so many products, I wanted to wait until I could test them all together. I don’t think it is available as a set, but each of the products are available in full size individually. I’ll link each below, and include the full-sized price.

Let’s start with the Cream Cleanser (R321 for 250ml). It’s a great cleanser for normal to dry skin. It removes most make-up (it didn’t completely remove my waterproof mascara, but few cream cleansers do) as well as sunscreen. It leaves the skin soft and smooth, with no dryness.

That is followed by the Balancing Toner (R321 for 250ml). I don’t normally use non-acid toners, but tested this one because it was part of the set. It hydrated my skin can left it feeling soft. I remove my cleanser with a cloth, so don’t feel the need to remove excess cleanser with a toner, which means this isn’t a step I’d include in my routine in the future.

A step I love, and will definitely include, however, is the Pinotage Exfoliating Enzyme (R408 for 50ml). The formula contains a powerful, yet gentle cocktail of fruit enzyme exfoliators to gently remove dead skin cells. Allantoin has been added to soothe, heal and nourish the skin.

The Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum (R362 for 15ml) is a lovely lightweight serum packed with peptides to help reduce the depth of wrinkles around the eye area. It instantly refreshes the skin, and is a great base for eye makeup.

The Sun Defence SPF30 (R231 for 50ml and R432 for 100ml) was a surprise – I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. In the tube, the formula is very thick and looks like it’s going to be very sticky and leave a ashy residue, but it blends easily and absorbs quickly, leaving your skin looking glowing.  It contains both UVA and UVB photoprotectors, as well as antioxidants to further protect the skin from the sun. I used it both alone and under makeup, and did well with both. Having said that, I’m not sure this the one for people with oily skin.

And finally, the Vitavine Booster Face Mask (R415 for 50ml) is another product I’ll be using again and again. When your skin is feeling lack lustre and in need of a serious boost, this vitamin-rich formula will sort it out in just 15 minutes. It contains Vitamin A to stimulate cell turnover, Vitamin E to soothe and repair, Vitamin C to boost collagen and overall brightness and Pro-Vitamin B5 to deeply hydrate. This has quickly found itself in my top 10 favourite masks of all time!
