The slogan of the decade (bearing in mind we’re not even 13 months in), should be ‘expect the unexpected’.
While we cannot control worldwide events, we can make sure we try and make ourselves feel better, despite of what is going on. Besides putting on a red lip (not so easy with masks), my favourite way to cheer my mood is to spritz some uplifting perfume.
Studies have shown that scent can impact our brains on a very deep level, so while it may not be the same as therapy, it definitely is cheaper (per wear, possible not the initial outlay).
These are the five that I’ve been using on rotation for the last few months.
I bought my first bottle of Carolina Herrera 212 60ml EDT (R1170) in Marrakesh airport in 2006, and I’ve had it with me ever since. It holds such special memories for me, and the fresh white floral notes never fail in cheering me up.
I probably have more CHANEL fragrances than any other brand, but CHANEL No. 5 L’Eau 50ml EDT (R1950) is my absolute favourite. Bright citrus notes make this a wonderful scent for warmer weather.
Another floral favourite is Sisley Izia 50ml EDP (R2150). This rose-heavy fragrance is perfect in any weather, and is a staple in my collection.
A relative new-comer to the SA market, Berdoues has taken it by storm. The French house is famous for its Berdoues Collection Grand Crus – each scent being inspired by a place. My favourite is the aromatic green citrus scent of Assam of India 100ml EDP (R1595).
A close second CHANEL fragrance is CHANEL Paris – Biarritz 125ml EDT (R2315). A fresh citrus scent that transports you to seaside holidays and carefree days.
What are your favourite uplifting scents? Let’s share them, so we can all discover new ones to love.
