The only thing that makes me really excited about winter is the fact that I can pull out the big guns are far as fighting pigmentation goes.
The cooler, cloudier weather means that you can up the ante with ingredients that would be far too disastrous to even attempt in summer. It’s true, most decent dark spot busters cost a pretty penny, but Neutrogena have two products for those of us on a tighter budget.
I love Neutrogena because, as the baby sister of RoC (remember RoC? My mum’s still mourning the loss of their retinol) you get the R&D that’s filtered down the brands. So great innovations that launch under RoC, a few years later appear in Neutrogena formulations. And let’s face it, who couldn’t do with a little French pharmacy skincare in their lives?
The two products in question are the Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser, R89.95, which contains gentle exfoliators to slough away dead skin and grime, as well as skin brighteners in the form of Vitamin C and Neutrogena’s patented Essential Soy. This is sadly too harsh for my dry skin, but those of you with normal through to oily skin will do just fine on it.
The other is the Visibly Even Daily Moisturiser SPF30, R139.95. The inclusion of a full spectrum SPF30 is just amazing. I still cannot believe how many of you are using pigmentation products without sun protection! So if you won’t listen, then use this – you can’t ‘forget’ to apply sun screen if it’s in your day cream. My skin likes this, although again it needs some moisture supplementation in the form of a serum underneath.
You’ll find both products in selected Clicks, Dis-Chem, Foschini and Pick n Pay stores nationwide.
