SkinCeauticals Resveratrol B E Antioxidant Night Concentrate

What they say: With age and ongoing aggression, skin accumulates excessive free radical damage and loses its efficiency to effectively naturally repair at night. This compounded effect leads to accelerated visible signs of damage such of loss of radiance and elasticity.

This antioxidant night concentrate with a maximized concentration of 1% pure, stable resveratrol, synergistically with 0.5% baicalin and 1% alpha tocopherol (vitamin E) supports skin’s natural antioxidant defense system to improve the appearance of radiance and elasticity.

– Supports skin’s natural repair by neutralizing free radicals.

– Diminishes the visible signs of accelerated aging.

What I say: Antioxidants, along with sunscreen are two best bets for protecting your skin from daily damage and therefore ageing. Antioxidants form a barrier against free radical damage by taking care of the free molecules that would otherwise attach themselves to your cells.

Knowing this, I was obviously very excited to try this new serum from SkinCeuticals, especially seeing that I already use three of the brand’s products every day. The fact that resveratrol is a compound found in red grapes and wine, is another factor to mention. The reason the Mediterranean diet (you know, the one where a glass of red a wine a day is actually recommended – I don’t need to be told twice) is so good for you is because red wine contains these strong antioxidants. I’m of the opinion that you can never have too many antioxidants, so I decided to compliment my glass a day by adding a topical application to the mix.

The formula is very slippery – I think it may contain something like silicone that allows it to blend into the skin easily, leaving a soft, silky finish. It doesn’t have a scent to speak of and I’m more than ok with that. I don’t use serious skincare for its smell!

I’ve been using it once a day (at night, as suggested) for about 6 weeks now, and I have noticed a huge improvement in the luminosity of my skin. It feels plumper and bouncier (or maybe elastic’s a better word..?)

I have a deep line on my left nasolabial fold that is visibly reduced. I’m the most impressed with this, as I’ve been trying to reduce the appearance of it for years, and had just about reached the filler route.

I also have to make mention of the reduction in my pigmentation. I wasn’t expecting too much on this front, but again, I’m very impressed with the results. It’s not as drastic as say, the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector or Clarins Bright Plus Smoothing Serum, but noticeable nevertheless.

I realise the price tag is pretty steep, but I only use one pump a day and after 6 weeks, my 30ml bottle is still going strong.
