A local pigmentation treatment

Our climate means that most of us suffer with pigmentation at some stage. Obviously direct sunlight causes skin discolouration, but heat can also cause pigmentation. So I’m always happy to introduce you to local brands that are working on formulas to minimise it.

Dermaclinical was developed by an industry stalwart who has worked with many top brands over the years. With her in-depth knowledge of the industry, she knew what was needed within our market. The result is a concise collection of products, divided into 4 ranges to target specific skin concerns; acne, ageing, pigmentation and sun protection. There is also a cleanser and acid exfoliator to complete the range.

I tested the My Skin Brighter Mega 3 Brightening Serum (R990). It comes in a blue glass bottle with glass dropper, so you can regulate the amount you use.

Many pigmentation treatments simply target the discolouration on the surface of the skin by gently exfoliating it. This formula targets the source of the pigmentation instead. It does this by inhibiting the production of melanin (melanin is what gives our skin colour, but an over production or uneven production is what causes pigmentation.) The formula contains potent botanical actives that work within the skin to inhibit the processes and that cause pigmentation to form. These actives are backed up by hyaluronic acid to hydrate and nourish the skin. The texture is light and absorbs instantly, leaving the skin soft and hydrated – no stickiness or residue at all!

I tested it all over my face, but you can use it as a spot treatment on specific problem areas. I have to admit that I actually tested it a little while ago because I wanted to tell you about it once we went into cooler weather because if you haven’t used a pigmentation treatment before, it’s better to start in winter. You also NEED to wear sunscreen every day, as the sun will just cause more pigmentation of you don’t.

I applied it to clean skin every night and saw a visible difference within 2 weeks and after 4 weeks my pigmentation was greatly reduced, so much so that someone asked me if I’d had a peel. And thanks to the hyaluronic acid, my skin was plumper and far brighter than before.
