Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer

Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer, R850

What they say: Lightweight, non-greasy primer minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, mattifies against oily shine and imparts a silky, luminous finish to skin.

What I say: Ok, so that price tag has to be addressed first. Yes, it’s expensive, and you can find similar products on the market at less than half the price.

However, if you are a Dermalogica fan, you’ll love this new launch.

Why? Well, because of the clever technology held within the tube. The formula contains Dermalogica’s patented complex, H2ORelease as well as Abyssinian Oil which provide intense time-released moisturisation to areas of the face that need it, and lock it in, so that the skin stays hydrated for as long as you’re wearing it.

The blur effect is great, too. It eliminates fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone in a flash, leaving you with a radiant complexion and a perfect canvas for makeup application.

The formula is off white, but girls with darker skin needn’t worry, as there were girls at the launch who have darker complexions, and it blended right in without leaving any ashiness.

I found it helped my foundation not only last longer, but stopped it from going patchy, even in summer heat.

I’m not sure I’d repurchase it, as I rarely wear full-on foundation (I usually wear BB Creams day to day). I haven’t been using it for long enough to say that it has any long-term skin benefits, so maybe in a few months I’ll have a different opinion.

The upshot is: if you’re a die-hard Dermalogica fan with dry to combination skin or have a generous skincare budget, you’ll love this. If you aren’t overly fussed about your primers, this is a pretty hefty investment that probably isn’t worth the cash.
