I’m pretty sure you all know that I’m a bit pedantic when it comes to sun protection.
It’ll come as no surprise that I never, ever leave the house without it on my face. This means that I’m pretty much an expert at which sunscreens work best for which needs. So, here you go:
Best under makeup: SVR Sun Secure Blur SPF50 Optical Blur Mousse Cream (R250 for 50ml) It creates a perfectly smooth canvas to apply makeup to.
Best for oily skin: Eucerin Sun Gel-Crème Oil Control Dry Touch SPF50+ (R220 for 50ml) I’ve tested this on so many friends with oily skin, and they all love it and have repurchased it, so it is a definite winner.
Best for water babes: Bioderma Photoderm Nude Touch SPF50+ (R260 for 40ml) This fairly runny formula goes on easily and manages to be super-water-resistant without feeling waxy.
Best for anti-aging: Avene Anti-Aging Suncare SPF50+ (R230 for 50ml) I love this formula because it contains Vitamin E for anti-oxidant protection, as well as being deeply hydrating.
Best for sensitive skin: La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL range (R215 – R270 each for 50ml) You know the story – this is my ride or die face sunscreen range. It made my 17 best of 2017 list, and it will just always be in my skincare routine. There are lots of formulas – from fluid to cream, tinted and not. Find your match here.
Best lip protection: Piz Buin Moisturising Sun Lipstick Extra Care SPF30 (R60) I have used and loved this balm for years. It protects lips better than anything else I’ve ever tried.
